We Sweethearts are in transition right now, making the move out of the big city and trying to buy our first home, with a short stopover at my Mom and Step Dad's spare bedroom. We are so lucky to have such a loving family to rely on. Some unexpected cutbacks where Mr. Sweetheart works turned out to be the start of a new path for us, and when life hands you lemons, well, you know the rest, Dollfaces. Posting will continue to be sporadic as we pack, move and store all our earthly possessions while waiting on the real estate gods to smile upon us. In the meantime, visions of vintage decorating dance in my head as I dream of a little house of our own where Sugar Pea can have a room all to herself, and a yard where she can run, play, have a puppy and make mud pies. We're looking forward to a fresh start, ourselves, after a year full of sadness and stress. All of us are glad Sugar Pea and her Nana will be seeing a lot more of each other, and with Mom's help I'll be able to pursue some business ventures of my own. Yes, we're chasing the old American Dream. So, in that frame of mind, I wanted to share some vintage decorating inspiration from "Color Ideas from the ACME Color Selector", a wonderful little 50's era promotional booklet Mom picked up for me at an estate sale.
I'm not much for mammoth stainless steel appliances and imported Italian glass tiled back splashes. Give me a brightly painted, well organized, old fashioned kitchen with a sunny window over the sink any day.
The cheery little kitchen in "Flamingo" with its black floors and counter tops and a built in planter is cute as can be.
Really, with a dinette set this fabulous, who cares what color the walls are?
Maybe you prefer the natural beauty of varnished wood.
The bathroom is where you start your day, so why not make it cheerful?
The red and green master suite is providing me with a lot of inspiration for a fresh decorating scheme when we move into a new bedroom.
Don't overlook the closets...
or the floors...
or the front porch. It's the first chance your home has to make a good impression.

I hope your doing better,sounds like you are! It is great to have family help us out,my hubs and I both have had an opportunity to stay with both sets of folks,whilst moving to and fro,waiting for various homes to close on.
We are sooo on the same page decorating style!

It's great posts like these that make me realize I really need to find the time to update my blog. All pictures are from 1939-40 (I guess they compliment your 1939 NYWF apron - sort of!).

We just finished moving, from living all our lives in a big city, to a small city out in the country - best thing we ever did!....LOL....Moving is a pain but I always anticipate the new home and look at it like it is a "blank canvas" just waiting to be decorated! Can't wait to see what you do with your new home, I know it will be awesome! :)

I have this situation... im creating a bathroom onto my 1940's lake house iv got the claw foot tub iv referbished and it is Turqoise with silver legs and Im super proud of it! anyways iv hit a snag in the plans... this "wash room" is going to be crudley added onto my house and it willbe open to the back yard only having 2 walls and a roof...NOw my kitchy design revolved around Silver Turquoise and white with turqoise being the dominate color. Since 1 wallof the wash house is the actual out side wall of the house I dont want to paint it... so im going to make a wall of old barn tin to add a metal feature and make it feel diffrent... however now i have to paint the tin beause it isnt dull and clean like i wnated its covered in rust spots... i need a 4th color....got nay ideas?
Mick- Why not paint it silver if that's one of your colors? If not silver, then I think a chartreuse green would be just lovely.
